ABOUT
Cici is the heart and soul behind Cici Dance Club, a space where passion, connection, and energy come alive through dance. Cici founded her club with a simple yet powerful goal: to create a supportive community for girls who might feel lonely or disconnected. It’s a space where they can dance together, uplift one another, and feel valued and appreciated.
Dance has always been central to Cici’s life. In China, it was something fun and carefree, but when she moved to the USA in 2010 she stop dancing and found herself feeling disconnected and without purpose. Everything changed in 2014 when she discovered dance again. With encouragement from a mentor named Merry, Cici started teaching at the Chinese community center, rediscovering her confidence and building meaningful connections.
Then like many, Cici faced challenges during COVID, battling postpartum depression and experiencing the loss of her mentor. Yet, she found her way back to herself through dancing which helped her reconnect with herself and her passion for teaching
What began as a humble idea has organically grown, transforming into a journey of resilience and personal transformation. Over the years, Cici has witnessed her students evolve, embracing dance and building confidence that enriches their lives beyond the studio.
Today, alongside a supportive team of four directors and numerous assistants-in-training, Cici continues to guide her community with kindness and dedication
At Cici Dance Club, she shares this gratitude with everyone she meets, creating a space where students grow, support one another, and share the love of dance. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced dancer, Cici welcomes you to join her in creating meaningful connections and unforgettable memories through the power of dance.
Why do my dance classes require a long-term commitment? Over the years of teaching, I’ve learned that beginners come to class because they genuinely want to dance and give it a try. But often, in a single class, they find it hard to keep up, feel unsure, or lack confidence. They might leave feeling like they can't keep up, and they give up before they’ve truly had a chance to experience the joy of dance.
That’s why I start my sessions slowly, repeating simple movements that build up to the routines I plan to teach. I want my students to feel comfortable and confident. By the second or third class, they begin to think, “I can do this!” They start to feel more relaxed, more capable, and, most importantly, more confident. My goal isn’t to turn them into professional dancers. It’s to help them start loving dance and feeling confident in themselves.
Once that love and passion are there, their potential and growth have no limits. Some of my students have been with me for years, attending classes multiple times a week, because they feel the positive impact dance has on their lives. They tell me how dancing has helped them feel more comfortable in their own skin, improved their relationships, and boosted their confidence. I even have a grandmother who shared how dancing made her feel like the girl she always dreamed of being but never had the chance to become.
Knowing this makes me happier than I could ever express. I have all the passion and patience in the world for my students, as long as they’re willing to join me on this journey!
